A Small Resort Built Around Boats and Fishing

Two bays face each other across a headland, and between them the water is calm on almost every day of the season. The resort sits above the smaller one: twenty-two rooms and eight cottages, a jetty with fourteen boats, a dive and tackle store, a kitchen that will cook whatever you land, and a terrace where the whole place eats when the wind drops. Guests take a boat out alone, book a skipper, join a guided fishing morning or simply swim off the steps. Nothing here is more than four minutes' walk from the water.

About us

A Fishing Family That Ended Up in Hospitality

Three generations of the family fished these bays commercially before the quotas changed and the boats began to sit idle. The first four rooms were built above the boat store to keep the business alive, guests started asking to come out on the boats, and within a decade the balance had reversed entirely. The fleet is still the point of the place; the accommodation grew around it. Two of the current skippers are the same men who used to land fish here for a living, which is why the fishing advice is worth listening to.

The bays themselves do most of the work. The headland breaks the prevailing wind, the entrances face away from the open sea, and the water inside stays workable on days when the coast outside is unusable. That means the boats go out far more often than at exposed harbours, beginners can be taken out safely in conditions that would otherwise cancel a trip, and swimming off the jetty is possible almost every day from May to October.

We keep the operation deliberately small and local. The kitchen buys from the same boats that supply the village, the cottages were built by a local firm using stone from a nearby quarry, and almost everyone on the staff lives within ten kilometres. We observe closed seasons and size limits without exception, run a mooring and reef clean-up twice a year, and have paid for the replacement of the village slipway that the whole community uses.

Water That Stays Workable

The headland and the orientation of the two entrances mean that inside the bays there is rarely more than a light chop, even when the forecast for the open coast reads badly. In practice our boats go out on around nine days in ten across the season, against perhaps six in ten at exposed harbours nearby. For guests that means a booked fishing week actually happens, children can go out without anyone worrying about seasickness, and swimming, paddling and snorkelling from the jetty are possible almost every day between May and October.

Fourteen Boats, Not One

The fleet runs from small open boats that anyone may drive under local rules to a licensed twelve-passenger launch, taking in two proper fishing boats, a covered boat for cold or wet days, and a fast rib for reaching the outer reefs when it is calm. That range means a family, a group of anglers and a couple who want a quiet hour can all be accommodated on the same morning, and nobody is put into a boat that is wrong for what they intend to do. Every boat is serviced on a documented schedule.

Skippers Who Fished Commercially

Two of our skippers spent their working lives landing fish here, and the rest learned from them. They know which reef holds bream in June, where the current sets on the ebb, how deep to drop when the water clears after rain and when a bay simply will not produce. That knowledge does not come from a chart plotter. It also means the safety judgement is unshowy and completely reliable: when they say a trip should be moved, it should be moved, and guests learn to accept it without argument.

A Kitchen That Cooks the Catch

Anything landed within the legal limits can be cleaned by the staff and cooked the same evening, on the grill, in salt or in a stew, and served on the terrace with the rest of the table. When nothing has been caught the kitchen buys from the village boats an hour after they land. Menus are short, seasonal and cooked properly, breakfast runs early for anyone going out at dawn, and packed food is prepared for boats without being asked twice.

Everything Within Four Minutes

Rooms, cottages, jetty, tackle store, kitchen, terrace and swimming steps all sit within a short walk of each other on one slope above the bay. Nothing requires a car once you have arrived, luggage is carried for you, and boats can be reached in slippers before sunrise. Guests with limited mobility can be accommodated in three ground-floor rooms with level access to the terrace and a boarding platform on the jetty that a wheelchair can use with assistance.

Fishing Kept Sustainable

Closed seasons and size limits are observed absolutely, catches are logged and reported, barbless hooks are used on guided trips, undersized and out-of-season fish go back immediately, and there is a strict daily limit per rod regardless of what guests would prefer. Spearfishing is not offered. Twice a year we clear the moorings and the reef of lost gear with the village divers, and a share of every fishing package funds the local restocking and monitoring programme.

Rooms and Stone Cottages

Twenty-two rooms in the main house, all with a balcony facing the bay, and eight stone cottages sleeping two to six with a kitchen, terrace and outdoor shower. Rates include breakfast from six in the morning, use of kayaks and snorkelling gear, the swimming jetty and a mooring for anyone arriving by boat. Half board is available, cottages can be taken self-catering, and every booking of five nights or more includes one free half-day of boat hire.

Self-Drive Boat Hire

Small open boats hired by the hour, half day or day, with fuel, safety equipment, a chart of the bays and a full handover briefing included. No licence is required for the smaller engines under local rules, and our staff will take you out for the first ten minutes to make sure you are comfortable. Cool boxes, parasols, snorkelling sets, fishing rods and a picnic can all be added, and a mechanic is reachable throughout the day.

Skippered Trips and Charters

Half and full days with a skipper on a route agreed with you: a slow tour of the two bays and the caves, a run to a beach reachable only by sea, a sunset cruise with something cold on board, or a straightforward transfer to the village for dinner. The covered launch carries twelve passengers with a toilet, shade and cold storage. Catering can be arranged from our kitchen, and skippers will stop wherever the group wants to swim.

Guided Fishing Programmes

Morning, evening and full-day trips targeting whatever is in season, with rods, terminal tackle, bait, licences, refreshments and instruction included. Beginners are taught from the first cast; experienced anglers are simply shown the marks and left to work them. Week-long packages combine six sessions with accommodation, half board and one rest day, and the kitchen cooks whatever comes back within the limits. Night trips for squid run twice a week from September.

Families, Swimming and Shore Activities

Kayaks, paddleboards, snorkelling gear and buoyancy aids for every size are free to guests, and the sheltered beach below the cottages shelves gently enough for small children. We run swimming lessons in the mornings, a snorkelling safari twice a week, evening crab hunts from the jetty and a boat handling session for teenagers. Bicycles are available for the coast road, and the terrace has games, books and shade for the hottest part of the day.

Groups, Events and Exclusive Use

The whole resort — rooms, cottages, terrace, kitchen and fleet — can be taken by a single group of up to sixty for family celebrations, small weddings, angling clubs and company weeks. Exclusive bookings include a coordinator, a catering plan built around the boats, transfers from the airport and a programme that can be as full or as empty as the group wants. Out of season we host fishing clubs and photography groups at reduced rates.
